For my project, I plan on integrating several Glogster assignments in my inclusive language arts class during the 2011-2012 school year. Students will create at least 3 glogster book report projects. See the attached project description for further details.
Scan Strategy teaches students to visually scan text/chapter prior to reading and read the first sentence of each paragraph as a prereading strategy. Students are also taught to ask questions while reading.
This visual aid was used with a practice story completed together during intervention time and then students applied the strategy independently using a practice story from the Buckle Down Reading Practice workbooks (7th grade level).
RCRC Strategy reminder also attached. A great quick use anywhere reading strategy to help students improve comprehension of material. Students read a chunk of text (length varies on student ability and text layout), Cover with hand over the part that was read and then Recite in your own words what you just read and finally Check your accuracy of information by uncovering the text and see if what you said outloud matches the information in the text/story.
